Productive Weekend with C4Q

Categories: News, TeamAuthor:

The C4Q team continued the tradition of working together on Sundays in Queens. In an effort to better market Silicon Valley 2.0, we will be creating a 3D model diorama for display at the Queens Museum of Art. The visual project will help viewers understand how a new university can be incorporated into the current geographic space. The team will be working on this coming Saturday to assemble the model, so stay tuned for pictures!

We also brainstormed ideas for our first street outreach efforts, thanks in part to a successful volunteer recruitment drive at Herald Mission Center. We will be working with youth volunteers to spread the word about C4Q and Applied Sciences NYC. Our other marketing efforts include partnering with popular food trucks, such as Bian Dang and Korilla BBQ, to ramp up our presence in the young professionals community.

Lastly, we strategized best ways to reach out to universities and other institutions so that they know of Willets Point, Queens as a viable and ideal site.

In other exciting news, C4Q has been officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in New York State. We were also fortunate to be accepted as a client of the Lawyers Alliance for New York. This will enable us to plan and launch our very first fundraising event by the end of summer.

We invite all interested individuals to join us for these fun sessions on Sundays. For more information, contact us at info (at) coalitionforqueens (dot) org.

Reporting back from the C4Q Team’s Weekend Outing

Categories: News, TeamAuthor:

This past weekend, the C4Q team came together to work on a number of pressing issues in light of the recent announcements about the Applied Sciences NYC Initiative. But first we started the day off with delicious dim sum at East Buffet on Main Street in Flushing, Queens. Given that C4Q is supported by volunteers, we wanted to make the most of our team building time.

We made a lot of progress within a few short hours. At the end of the day, we finalized our petition, updated our social media outlets (including the website and Facebook page), drafted an op-ed for the NY Daily News, and created a new template for our presentation to community organizations and elected officials.

Given the success of this past outing/work session, the C4Q team will continue getting together on Sundays. We invite all interested individuals to join us for these fun sessions. For more information, contact us at info (at) coalitionforqueens.org.
